Find out more about Positive Parenting Skills Training

First of all, I’m very sad that this training has come to an end. I refer to it as a ‘TRAINING’ when in actual fact it was actual EVERYTHING I needed at just the right time in my LIFE. I thought I knew it all. I have met the most amazing and most inspiring women (BS, YT, Yumna CDV and KK.) and the rest of the staff. When I first arrived here, I had no idea what to expect. I always thought that I had the perfect little family with absolutely the most amazing Children. Until we become a blended family. I didn’t think this sort of training was going to be my EVERYDAY-GO –TO TOOL. After a lengthy conversation with Yumna, she made me realise that I have so much more to learn. Now the parent Centre has become a house hold name. I would recommend this training to everyone I come across.

Now I see things different, I know how to acknowledge my child’s feelings and I know that I am teacher and my child is a follower so I need to be an example. That children have their ideas and they need me as a parent to listen to them non-judgemental. I learn about labelling and that labelling can harm children’s self-esteem. I am very grateful that I got to learn all these important tools so that I can go and practice at home with my child.

I learnt a lot in this training. I learnt about how to deal with a child in a positive way. I was physically and emotional abused, but now I learnt to break a cycle so that what happened to me not happen to my children and my grandchildren. I understand children fully, why they are acting like this, all about what I must do so that they can grow in a good way. I started to practice ROBOT skills, I always telling my children that we need not to jump on conclusions, we must Stop, Think and Respond. I noticed that my parents parenting style was differ to this positive style I learnt, so since I copied my parent’s parenting style, I decided to unlearn and learn the new parenting style.

The training was so amazing, learnt a lot not only skills but also self-realisation, I will use the skills not only for my parenting but also in my everyday life. The training also given me a sense of power and self-confidence. I am enthusiastic about my now journey at being the best, loving and supportive mother.
