Artwork for Goodwork

Photographer Alex Rochard (@rochardalex) zooms into the first phase of this process as we start cleaning up and preparing the container for more workshops. We’re pretty excited to see the final result, more to follow soon.

The Hangberg Family Resilience Programme is an innovative project, funded separately by the Department of Social Development, aiming to build resilience in families through an integrated basket of services to families in this community, including counselling; family day events; positive parenting training; fatherhood programmes; youth leadership development and community involvement projects. The project has brought together many organisations working in the community, including Sentinel Primary School; Hout Bay High School; Department of Social Development (DSD) offices in Wynberg and Hout Bay; Community Cohesion; faith-based organisations; Hout Bay Health Forum and James House. During this year the counselling service was launched; 95 family members attended a very successful Family Day Event; 37 youth completed a Leadership Programme; 39 parents and caregivers attended positive parenting training skills and 48 fathers participated in the Fatherhood Programme.

The container art installation is a reminder of The Parent Centre’s Family Resilience Project in Hangberg and together with Creatives Taariq Latiff (@chcltcam) and Andrej Von Walter (@andrejvw), we hope to achieve epic results.
